Bridlington is a coastal town in the East Riding of Yorkshire, a short distance down the coast from our base in Scarborough. We work across Bridlington and the surrounding villages of Sewerby, Flamborough and Bempton, on both residential and commercial projects.
The Old Town, running from Westgate up to Bridlington Priory, is one of the best-preserved Georgian and Victorian streetscapes in East Yorkshire — narrow lanes and yards behind the High Street, large period merchants' houses, and traditional shopfronts that have largely escaped heavier 20th-century redevelopment. It's a genuinely different building stock to the seafront terraces down at the Quay, which grew up later as the resort itself expanded, and the two areas carry their own separate conservation area status.
The Old Town carries real heritage weight: three Grade I listed buildings, around twenty Grade II* listed, and a long list of further Grade II listed houses, shops and former civic buildings sit within the Bridlington Old Town Conservation Area. That doesn't stop renovation work, but it does mean planning applications in that part of town get assessed against keeping the area's historic character, which is worth knowing before you fix a budget or a timeline.
